Suman Koli

[edit]

@Shahoodu: I have added citation about Suman Koli. She is mentioned in the same article about Arya Rajendran --Sahir 11:22, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The claim about suman koli is not founded on any of the article cited. Its important that we have citations on each columns. Ashique2020 (talk) 12:04, 27 December 2020 (UTC))[reply]
I agree with the opinion of @Ashique2020:. It may be true that Suham Koli is also a youngest mayor. But @Sahirshah: there is no independent sources to prove that argument. In the case of Arya, multiple reliable sources claims she is the youngest mayor from the cointry. Shahoodu (talk) 12:10, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The claim about Suman Koli is likely to be false. The Bharatpur became a Corporation only in 2014.[1] She might be the youngest Muncipal Councillor, but not Mayor. The Rajasthan Municipal Election Result 2009 has her name in the list.[2] (Ashique2020 (talk) 12:38, 27 December 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Im boldly removing her name from the list. It can be added back reaching consensus if possible in future, whether the information is accurate Shahoodu (talk) 12:51, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss before making removing previous edits. I shall find more sources and citations and add them. --Sahir 12:59, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is the term "mayor" an official term in India? I think the official term is 'chairperson' and both the municipal corporation and Municipal council has 'chairperson'. If so, then Suman Koli is the youngest 'chairperson' India. And many states use the term "Mayor" for Municipal council chairpersons. And even the process of electing and power of the 'mayors' are vastly different in different states in India. Also, the criteria for Municipal corporation also varies. If this list does not include Municipal council chairperson, I think this list doesn't follow WP:LSC and not an indiscriminate list. Lower4th . Tal 14:44, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Shahoodu: @Ashique2020: - I found a link confirming that Suman Koli was elected chairperson of municipal council in 2009. If Bharatpur became a municipal corporation before the end of her term she would be de facto mayor. --Sahir 14:58, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Shahoodu: @Ashique2020: @Lower fourth: - This is an election commission report which shows that Suman was elected chairperson of Bharatpur municipal council in 2009. http://sec.rajasthan.gov.in/cm/Upload/NP_2009.pdf . She contested as independent with BJP backing. It was a reserved position for SC Woman. So this seems plausible. I shall leave you to revert your own edit if you see fit. Shahoodu claiming Bharatpur was not a corporation till 2014 but the fact is it was part of NCR(NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION) and also a corporation from the time it added part of NCR. Dont make edits in wikipedia to retort your claims for some political party use. This is an open forum which intend to get correct information. @Bharatheeyanoriginal: I dont make edits here based on my political interest. In fact I hate politics. But I cant allow someone to just come here and make some random edits without any source. As per multiple independent sources, Arya Rajendran is the present youngest mayor in India. There is not even a single independent source that proves Suman Koli is the youngest mayor. We make edits here by following some guidelines. So please make sure to follow it. Shahoodu (talk) 19:24, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Sahir: I would respectfully disagree with you. Mayor and Deputy Mayor in India is used only for Muncipal Corporations. For example see: [1] Chairman/ Chairperson is used for Municipality. Municipal Council is used for a smaller urban area and Municipal Corporation for a larger urban area, exceeding one billion population.[2] The election commission of India has clearly defined who a mayor is : "A mayor is the ceremonial head of Municipal Corporation.[3] (Ashique2020 (talk) 20:46, 27 December 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Frist Youngest Mayor

[edit]

Hi, There is no doubt that suman koli was the first youngest mayor .as it has been mentioned in all the reliable sources related to Arya Rajendran.

So Please refrain from removing the Wikipedia content according to your political interests..Happy editing.... cheers -- Padavalam🌂  ►  20:09, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, none of the sources mentioned here says Suman Kohli was the youngest mayor. Instead, it is only mentioned that she was one of the youngest mayors in the country, being elected in 2009 at the age of 21. But that claim is strongly disputed by one of the editors in the above discussion as the corporation itself was formed in 2014 and did not exist in 2009. Anyway for now, I have removed the date of birth which does not have any source and also the claim that she was the youngest mayor which is not explicitly stated in any of the source. Whether the entry has to be completely removed needs to be decided after a consensus is arrived in the above discussion first. So I request you to please continue further discussion there. Malayala Sahityam (talk) 23:07, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Most of these sources appear pretty questionable. I tried searching before December 2020 and there is no source which refers to Suman Koli as a mayor, even though she was supposedly appointed as a mayor in 2009. The strongest sourcing for this is from The Times of India (RSP entry) which has a reputation for undisclosed paid news and less reliable outlets are likely deriving this information from it. Whether to include Suman Koli or not

[edit]
2nd opinion requested

None of the sources mentioned in other threada says Suman Kohli was the youngest mayor. Instead, it is only mentioned that she was one of the youngest mayors in the country. Here date of birth also does not have any sources. Furthermore, one user strongly dispute that the corporation itself was formed in 2014 and did not exist in 2009 with reliable sources. So until a consensus is reached on this topic, please dont add her into the list. I welcome all the users, @Ashique2020:, @Sahirshah:, @Lower fourth:,@Malayala Sahityam:,@Padavalam kuttanpilla: to participate in the discussion. Please comment your opinion regardless of your political interest.Shahoodu (talk) 04:38, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,@Shahoodu:Thanks for inviting ...I strongly oppose the removal of her name from the list. because she was the person who held the position of mayor from 2009 to 2014 in Bharatpur Corporation.Suman Koli's name has been mentioned in news articles related to Arya Rajendran.btw I hope these links refute the age dispute.-- Padavalam🌂  ►  08:29, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But Bharatpur only became a corporation in 2014 that contradicts the claim about Suman Koli. Can you clarify that Shahoodu (talk) 08:42, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Shahoodu: When a municipality becomes a corporation existing chairman of municipal council becomes mayor --Sahir 13:36, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So, that means she became the mayor only in 2014 which contradicts the claim she is the youngest mayor. Shahoodu (talk) 13:50, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arya Rajendran may or may not youngest mayor

[edit]

The Arya Rajendran is one of the youngest mayors, but it is doubt full to become the youngest mayor in India because Suman Koli's birth month is not specified. and also Bharatpur, Rajasthan (Administered by Suman Kili) becomes a municipal corporation in 2014 but it will become a municipal council from 1973, Head of the municipal council may mayor.

According to multiple sources, Bharatpur only became a corporation in 2014. Mayor is the head of the municipal corporation that contradicts the claim about Suman Koli. This issue need further clarification. Whether it is Arya or Suman being the youngest mayor, the problem here is that most of the users involved in the disussion wants to change things according to their political agenda. So it will be better to involve users from other countries here Shahoodu (talk) 08:18, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This entire list is meaningless and misleading as even the term "Municipal corporation" criteria were different in different states. Even the election process of mayors are different in different states. The current criteria for a Municipal corporation say it's a body with more than 10 lakh population. None of these Municipal corporations listed here has that much population. And all the sources in the list except for Arya Rajendran is questionable and most of the sources don't even include the date of births. 117.221.180.212 (talk) 22:01, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, urban local governance is covered by the 74th amendment of the constitution which categorises urban areas as municipal corporations (for large urban area) and municipal councils (for small urban area). This is uniform for the whole country. Hope that answers your first question. And cities with less than 10 lakh population is also granted status as corporation because the 74th amendment clearly states population is not the only criteria to deem an area as large or small urban area thereby granting them corporation or municipal council status. And regarding the age, I agree that those entries whose age cannot be verified by the given sources can be removed. Malayala Sahityam (talk) 00:24, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the column on date of birth altogether to remove redundancy since most sources only refer to age. As of present, the ages of those listed are all verifiable. Tayi Arajakate Talk 05:19, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ബട്ട് വൈ? But why?

[edit]

Why does this article even exist? This page was created in December 2020 after Kerala local body elections. What is the relevance of listing Mayors based on age? Someone please AfD this page? ChandlerMinh (talk) 09:40, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First several editors tried to include a non-existent BJP mayor to the list and when that failed, the same editors wanted the page to be deleted. Now all of a sudden another request for deletion appears out of nowhere. I really understand the pain caused by her nomination and the creation of this Wikipedia page to several people (of course I assume good faith in your request for AfD but was only speaking generally) but the page stays as long as the list exists for other countries (Similar pages exist for United States and Canada). 2001:7C0:205F:8001:0:0:0:DE (talk) 17:26, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The youngest mayors all over the country listed here is given wrong. The youngest mayor in the country was elected in 2011 In October, In maharashtra from Kolhapur. She was Mrs. Kadambari sandeep Kawale. She She has made the record of the youngest mayor in the history of Indian election commission. She was elected at the age of 21.
