Ideology

[edit]

The ideology currently given is "Sunni Islam," however I think this is likely erroneous. I checked the cited article, and all it seems to mention is that the group is primarily composed of Sunni Palestinians. This doesn't mean howeve that their guiding ideology is Sunni Islam (whose listing under ideology I believe can falsely give the impression the group is guided by some form of Sunni Islamism). Instead, going by that article, and also this blog post by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi I'd suggest their ideology is more accurately described as some form of government loyalism (maybe mixed with some kind of Palestinian nationalism given the groups main demographic). Of course this also begs the question whether their loyalism is perhaps partly inspired by some commitment to Ba'athism, or whether it's purely an Assad focused loyalism. Anyways open to thoughts on the subject. MrPenguin20 (talk) 02:27, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
