Neutrality disputed

[edit]

Much emphasis is put on opinions and controversies in the text. Too little factual information is presented. Controversy surrounding the anthem or people's difficulty singing the anthem should be discussed in a separate section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by R8vd8 (talkcontribs) 23:32, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing wrong with including the controversy or the difficulty in singing, provided that it is cited. This isn't, and at present is merely either personal opinion or original research. It would be a shame to remove the comments from the page, which appear to add something to a very sparse article, but somebody needs to find citations in reliable sources to justify the comments remaining. In view of the lack of any addressing of the issues above, I've made some deletions and changes. Much is so clearly someone's opinion that it hasn't got a place in WP and I have deleted it. I have also removed the paragraph about alternative songs, not only because of the OR but also because an article about the Icelandic national anthem doesn't require a list of songs that aren't the national anthem. I've removed the WP:OR/WP:Weasel statements 'Many Icelandic people claim to be unable to sing it' and 'proponents point to the fact that...'. I have moderated 'The melody is by many considered difficult to sing, and requires a vocal range of a minor fourteenth.' I've removed the citation and neutrality templates as they hardly apply now. Corrected some typos in the translated lyrics. asnac (talk) 10:48, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
