Incorrect calculation
[edit]In the section ("Gold price regulation") that refers to "and moving $3 billion in gold from New York to Paris" does not calculate correctly (from what I can tell) and the reference is no longer valid. If you convert 3 billion dollars in to tonnes at $35/oz to comes to ~2678 which is much, much larger than France's contribution of 22 tonnes (at a value, I assume, of $25 MM in November 1961, from the "Member contributions" section), even if there was a lot of "profits" from 1961 to 1967.Awikipedian42 (talk) 09:35, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- After review of sources, they appear to be incorrectly interpreted, and I revised the prose. Kbrose (talk) 19:36, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
gatt into the BWS????
[edit]well, I think there's a mistake, aren't the two insitutions of the Bretton Woods System (1944) the IMF and the World Bank (also known as IBRD)??? GATT was created in 1947!!!!
- That is certainly more accurate. Thanks. Kbrose (talk) 19:12, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Defending the gold price
[edit]Why have 'defending' a $35 price of gold when obviously it could not be sustained? Changed to 'attempted to maintain' for better clarity and truthfulness. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jim767676 (talk • contribs) 19:52, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Nothing was obvious when undertaken. There clearly was strong belief and goal of success. Kbrose (talk) 18:11, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
The claims which are being added [1] are violative, OMO, of both policies. The prior language had been stable since the article was first written four years ago, and ought not be changed without sourcing for the change. Collect (talk) 20:24, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
