Porto Bello (Caribbean) redirects here, but isn't mentioned in the article.

in Portobello, it is described as a fictional British colony in this film and the following series. Is it certain it wasn't just a fictionalised version of Portobelo,_Colón ? -- Beardo (talk) 14:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Only three character names are indicated in on-screen cast credits[edit]

It should be noted that, since there is no cast list in the closing credits and only three character names are specified in the opening credits ["Robert Newton as ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON'S immortal Long John Silver", "CONNIE GILCHRIST as Purity Pinker", "and Introducing KIT TAYLOR as Jim Hawkins"], the form of the remaining names in the article's cast list is taken from various resources, primarily British Film Institute (BFI), American Film Institute Catalog (AFI), TCMDb and IMDb, as well as from personal viewing of the film by editors. For the record, below is a reproduction of the cast listing in the opening credits:
