Taxonomic status of variants[edit]
The article as written mentions "form" and "variety" (and uses "var. rubrum" in photo captions), but does not address whether this infraspecific variation is best treated at the variety level or at the form level, or ignored altogether for taxonomic purposes.LarryMorseDCOhio (talk) 13:26, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Chinense vs sinensis[edit]
I am curious how this species came to be called "chinense." I thought plants indigenous to China were typically named "sinensis" from the latin word for Chinese, for instance Wisteria sinensis, Camellia sinensis, or Cordia sinensis.
To be clear, I'm not questioning the article's accuracy, just the odd name. Thanks, 24.90.212.130 (talk) 01:31, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
