Hello Doremo, you are edit warring with me over this matter. As there is no clear consensus on the topic (from what I've seen), there is no good reason to change it from Czechia to Czech Republic. Your decision to make this edit is a personal choice. I reverted you on it. You should not be reverting me again but rather discussing it here. Please explain your actions. You are invited to present and discuss the matter at Talk:Czech Republic, where this topic has already been addressed by many editors. Your position is not one that currently has general support, but you are welcome to put forward your arguments there in order to obtain consensus. Doremo (talk) 15:56, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Doremo, the debate is lengthy so I haven't delved into it, though at a glance, it does appear that many editors are in favour of using Czechia. You seem to be more familiar with the debate, however. Is it your understanding that Czech Republic is currently the preferred way to list the country's name, and if so, are editors encouraged to change it in articles that use Czechia? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:51, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's worth reading in detail because a lot of people have presented well-thought-out arguments. Some editors do favor Czechia (or other less common names), but current consensus remains that Czech Republic is the common name and most widely accepted name in English, and so it is currently the preferred way to list the country's name. WP:NCGN states that "When a widely accepted English name, in a modern context, exists for a place, we should use it," which seems pretty clear. You are welcome to add your suggestions to the discussion at Talk:Czech Republic, including on whether there's a special reason that this article should be an exception to the current consensus. I dont know why not native speaker and not even czech men wants to do corection how Czech Rep. / Czechia should be used.
Czechia is short (and official) term of Czech Republic (Registered in UN https://unstats.un.org/unsd/geoinfo/geonames/ ) and SHOULD by used. No matter what common users think. Aka you don't use SRN but Germany, Slovak Republic but Slovakia. So please, Doremo, dont try to by super correct if you are not. - Martin 16:56, 12.10.2021 (UTC)
