MV vs MY
[edit]The ship is "MY Esperanza", not "MV Esperanza". Can an admin please rename the page? Slackr 10:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I was the one that reverted your change. Can you please provide a definitive source for your name change? I have done a little googleing and it appears that there are 11,300 responces for "MY Esperanza" greenpeace and 17,600 for "MV Esperanza" greenpeace. I have found "official" pages [1][2][3][4] that call it the MV Esperanza, but only a few "official" pages [5] that call it MY Esperanza. I'm not saying your wrong, but do you have a link to the registration info for the ship? - Fosnez 12:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, erm... this is embarrassing... I'm actually writing this from the Greenpeace International office in Amsterdam. We have the technical records downstairs somewhere. It should also be online, on a subscription website called Lloyd's Register. Our ships are all registered as Motor Yachts (MY), but because we don't normally use the full name much ourselves, we never bothered to correct people about it. Slackr 14:08, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- Arr I see, well I have removed the MV from the pront page now. Fosnez 06:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Does this then make the first citation incorrect? "It is registered as a Motor Vessel[1]."? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.251.0.55 (talk) 20:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC).
