Orphaned references in Madras State

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Madras State's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Swarna":

  • From Dravidian parties: Rajagopalan, Swarna (2001). State and Nation in South Asia. Lynne Rienner Publishers. pp. 152–154. ISBN 1555879675.
  • From Rise of Dravidian parties to power in Tamil Nadu: Rajagopalan, Swarna (2001). State and Nation in South Asia. Lynne Rienner Publishers. pp. 152–154. ISBN 1555879675.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 17:16, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Madras Prov 1859...gif Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Madras Prov 1859...gif, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Madras Prov 1859...gif)

Though the article is titled 'Madras State', there is a blue marking line in the map (template) indicating Karnataka State, instead of the relevant Madras State To avoid this anomaly, it would be advisable to replace this map with the map from the article "States Reorganization Act", which is the same one, but without the blue line marking.--68.193.2.168 (talk) 21:35, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Madras State. Please take a moment to review my edit. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

Telangana was not part of Madras State

[edit]

Please Correct this.

I think it's because of the confusion that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are recently separated.

Bit of history: 1. Telangana state was Hyderabad State before it merged with Andhra State in and formed Andhra Pradesh in 1956. That is by that time, Andhra State was already separated from Madras State. 2. Hyderabad sate formed in 1948 before that it was under Nijam rule.
