No, I don't think that would be right at this point. Not all the information here is appropriate for rail tracks (i.e. crew cars, dynamometer cars, cranes, signal maintainers and other maintenance jobs, tools and equipment not directly related to the tracks), but there is a need to mention maintenance in the track article. Rather, I'd suggest that this article should be expanded to describe maintenance tools and jobs more completely. Slambo (Speak) 15:52, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Should this perhaps be marked up as American terminology? As far as obtaining the right of way in the UK is concerned, the nearest in the UK would be obtaining "wayleave" though this doesn't apply to railways as it would be done by Act of Parliament. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.83.29 (talk) 11:16, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

What is the point of this article? It has almost no content. And "maintenance" can't include the initial formation of the track, nor its ultimate removal. --Afterbrunel (talk) 21:05, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

I have decided it would be best to restore this article from a redirect. There is far too much to be said about Maintenance of way to simply fit it all in the page for railway track. I own an entire book on the subject of railway maintenance and will be using it and other sources to expand this article. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 00:08, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
