Oversourcing of signature moves

I'm kinda lazy to scroll through the history to see who did this so I'm just tagging the top four users by added text to the article, Emcg93, Xbeautifullmess, Miss X-Factor and DJ8946. I know I said before that signature moves need at least four sources, but we really don't need eight, okay? It's ugly. Four or five is really enough. Could the person who's added so many please leave the best five, which are the ones that explicitly say the move. Thank you. starship.paint ~ regal 08:29, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Sasha Banks NXT Women's Championship photo

Well as far as I believe I think the photo should be going on her accomplishments should be the one where she is at the ring posing with the title as it is better show her on a real wrestling ring while holding the title than just follow the instinct of putting the better good-looking image.TheBellaTwins1445(talk) 6:18, June 28, 2016 (UTC)

First, you don't just revert back again once one requests you to go to the talk page. That's edit warring. Second, that's a frankly daft argument. Wherever she may be holding a title, if we want to reflect that with a picture, the best one in terms of quality should be utilized. The irony one would've been more special if she was just winning the belt that night but she wasn't.
So the argument falls back to quality. The one you propose isn't not good. It's is blurry and unfocused. The one I propose is clear and signifies the same thing you claim the one you propose signifies, that she was an NXT champion. It's down to what's best for the encyclopedia not which one you prefer. I request to add of some moves on Sasha's signature moves...

- Knee lift, to an opponent's head, while trapping the opponent's leg - Double knee strike, sometimes off the top rope, as a pop-up counter or to an opponent outside the ring - Slingshot somersault plancha - Inverted cornered headscissors, to an oncoming opponent, followed a headscissors toss onto the second turnbuckle - Modified sit-out wheelbarrow facebuster

Citation request for PWI Woman of the Year 2015

I note there has been a "Citation required" added to the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Woman of the Year award for 2015. While this would originally have turned up in the appropriate March issue of PWI, there is a reference list of award winners on the Pro Wrestling Illustrated website - would this be a suitable source, or would someone need to dig out the appropriate issue?

As an aside, I note that a "Citation required" was not added to the PWI Match of the Year 2015 award, which seems a little odd. The source I've quoted above probably can't be used for that award, as it doesn't specify which of the two Sasha vs. Bayley matches in 2015 was the one that won the award, and which was the first runner-up. The sentence in the introduction reading "Together they also set the new record for a women's match at Roadblock: End of the Line in December 2016 at over 34 minutes".

Please add the qualifier "WWE" between "a" and "women's", since there have been longer matches in Japan such as Manami Toyota vs Kyoko Inoue from July 1995 (60 minutes), Azumi Hyuga vs Yoshiko Tamura from 2006 (60 minutes), Bull Nakano vs Devil Masami from 1993 (40 minutes). And those are just Japanese matches off the top of my head, with more research I could find more, for American matches longer than 34 minutes see here.

Before you ask for sources, the current source doesn't even state that 34 minutes is the record for a women's match to start with. 2A02:C7D:3CAF:D900:E17A:7CAD:33FF:B3F5 (talk) 13:46, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Source for Tamura vs Hyuga here. It is the last entry in the 2006 section (the match occurred on December 24 2006, the relevant text is "60分一本勝負 田村欣子(時間切れ引き分け)" [60-minute battle Yoshiko Tamura (time draw tie)]. I won't waste time looking for sources for the other matches, since only one is needed to prove 34 minutes is not a record. 14:07, 11 March 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:3CAF:D900:E17A:7CAD:33FF:B3F5 (talk)

They're both cousins of Snoop Dog correct? But they're not actually cousins to each other right? MM ATL (talk) 05:33, 20 September 2020 (UTC)Under the "Early Life" section, the article has:

"She is of African American on her mothers side and European German descent on her fathers side."

Mercedes' mother is not African American; her father is. This is pretty well known but you can go to the 2015 WWE 24 NXT Brooklyn special as her mom is in that.

Also under the Hiatus section, there are unconfirmed and unverifiable rumors from wrestling reporters that

"she was looking to quit the company due to her longstanding frustrations with WWE".

Missing from that is her wholse side of that story which she tells in the 2019 WWE Chronicle: Sasha Banks special. The gist of it is that it was her struggling with depression that was the reason for her hiatus.

Face turn?

I suggest removing the mention of a face turn in the latest Bayley storyline. Can we say with a hundred per cent certainty that Banks is a face now? Granted, she was painted as the sympathetic party in the Banks-Bayley feud but her persona hasn't changed, and that sympathetic angle might just be a stopgap until she starts her next storyline, which could very easily be a feud with an established babyface. Long story short, let's not call it a face turn just yet. 81.101.147.37 (talk) 22:49, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

She is no longer signed to WWE, and has removed all WWE affiliation from her social media accounts. "After making their exit from WWE earlier this year, Sasha Banks and Naomi have stayed off the wrestling radar; Yesterday, Banks changed her Twitter handle from @SashaBanksWWE to her real name, @MercedesVarnado."

Not done We need more definitive proof she's no longer signed to WWE. Her changing her social media isn't enough. — Czello 10:20, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

It is all over the net, do some actual research!

Sasha Banks is no longer under WWE Contract

Dave Meltzer and several other journalists have confirmed that she's currently negotiating a contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling and will be working a select number of dates for the company in 2023. This would make her a Free Agent.

Please change the article to reflect that. She is not "currently signed to WWE, where she performs on the SmackDown brand". That's currently false. Thezachman1 (talk) 14:41, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

This article says and will soon enter free agency. As far as I can see, she remains signed to WWE for the time being. — Czello 15:31, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
I don't see that phrase in the article. Thezachman1 (talk) 17:14, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

Sean Ross Sapp, a leading writer for Fightful.com, has confirmed that Sasha Banks' WWE contract ended "this Summer". This new development would mean she is no longer an employee of the company and should be labeled a free agent. 67.84.208.145 (talk) 02:02, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Confirmed. Varnado entered free agency since yesterday. -Imperial meter (talk) 19:51, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi IP, can you please provide a source? S0091 (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

@ScottishFinnishRadish: Confirmed. She is a free agent. [1] -184.145.53.53 (talk) 02:00, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

That source does not confirm it. reminded fans it had been rumored Banks' WWE contract ended on New Year's Eve 2022 by tweeting that she had become a free agent first thing on New Year's Day... What's interesting is Banks, along with Naomi who she walked out with all the way back in May, are both listed as active Superstars on WWE.com. WWE might well be unwilling to move Banks until her free agent status has been confirmed. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 22:20, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
