Import from French, Italian and Spanish Wikipedias

[edit]

I am presently working on a translation of the corresponding entries from the above Wikipedias. Hopefully a few days shall see it through. My plan is to smooth the translations and merge the content - but not to interfere with the original editors' work. I shall put a note here when I've finished. Hopefully others can then sort any issues of style, referencing...

I acknowledge, with much gratitude, those whose contributions I am using.

That was less painful than I feared! I have based this on the French wiki, as that is my best of the three languages and also the fullest article. Next I added the extra information in the Italian and Spanish wikis, hopefully in the appropriate places. At this stage, I have endeavoured to represent the source wikis correctly, rather than impose my thoughts or an English-wiki style. My hope is that others can build on this.

I would appreciate it if fellow editors would:

  • copyedit - check my phrasing, spelling, links etc
  • consider any other templates or categories that might be useful — Preceding unsigned comment added by John M Brear (talkcontribs) 15:06, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • consider any non-encyclopedic expressions - this varies somewhat from language to language, and is doubtless not improved by my translation!
  • address the need for more in-line citations - if anyone is more familiar with the mathematical history of the time, or has access to the sources... I promise tham a virtual beer!
