History
[edit]I really need some strong info for the history section...and I'm not real happy about the "hybrids and scale cars section." It's not that don't mind it.....the word "hybrid" seems WRONG here, even though that's exactly what the super mods and highland's mods are, hybrids of 2 separate classes.
- How does the new Scale cars, etc. section look? JLG 2701 17:14, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Pix I want to use
[edit]Here's the list of the pix I'd like to use on this project:
http://flickr.com/photos/16837963@N00/264687474/Done <---SuperMod Thank-you. This is really a great photo showing a supermod!! JLG 2701 15:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
http://flickr.com/photos/smantrom/933009315/ <---big block mod (asked)Donehttp://flickr.com/photos/northerntool/2194806351/<---dwarf car Not done The copyright on this picture is not owned by the poster. I found another.
I was hoping to get that particular photo, since it really showed the lack of fenders, and the open engine compartment, but we can make due with this one. Thanks JLG 2701 15:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I sent e-mails to GLOM, AOMRA, and the Outlaw Modified Racing Seris asking about some pix. I'll post whatever I get. JLG 2701 21:46, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Should we call this article "Modified racing" or "Modified racing in the United States"? Royalbroil 20:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think the latter would suffice. JLG 2701 02:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Getting aggrevated
[edit]Grrr....this is starting to get aggravating finding references for facts I know. I can't find a single, hard fact online to back up races I've watched on TV. I can't find a shred of evidence that the NASCAR Mods, formerly featherlite mods, ever set tire to track at WGI, other than a single sentence stating that some driver I've never heard of would be driving a modified there (and that article had to have been from around 95 or so....look at the references section to see what I mean). Another thing.....I've watched .....I don't know how many..... ASA SouthWEST modified races from Lake Havesu Raceway (in Colorado), but I can't find any info on that either. Neither ASA's site, nor LHR's site say a single word about the ASA SW Tour, just the ASA truck series. I watched them all winter on Altitude Sports and Entertainment on my DirecTv. I thought it was weird that the ASA would have 2 totally different mod series with 2 totally different cars. One was the SE tour (on this page) and the other looked like IMCA mods, the SW Tour. It also figures that the SW tour races aren't being broadcast right now, so I can't find/check them on my DirecTv.
Oh, what do you think of a "How to identify each modified species" section.......or something along those lines? JLG 2701 02:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Say what??
[edit]Uh-oh!!! I just ran across some more info on Outlaw modifieds....while searching for the outlaw mods that ran at Pevely when I was there in 91-92? JLG 2701 03:22, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Re-writes, more re-writes, and still more modifications. I don't know if I'm going to be able to actually complete this article. Every time I try to find one fact, I come up with 2 or 3 more tidbits or sanctioning bodies to add (added The AMRA, or American Motor Racing Association to the IMCA/WISSOTA/UMP section and 3 other outlaw modified sanctioning bodies). This might be an ongoing project. JLG 2701 18:38, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
About the name.....
[edit]I was thinking about naming it just Modifieds, so that it could easily be used as a wikilink, much like using Late model when talking about UMP Late Models. What say you?? JLG 2701 18:38, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Additional sources

- Orange County, East Coast Modifieds plus history
- Stock car history, has mentioning about East Coast and IMCA modified histories
- Midwest Modified Association, looks like an interesting local division
- USMTS have a national tour
You can publish this article. I don't have enough time to do it justice, so I'll add to it after it becomes active. I bet it will be edited a lot because there are so many types of Modifieds. Royalbroil 22:59, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
