Mont-Laurier, Quebec → Mont-Laurier – This article title Mont-Laurier, Quebec is propose renaming to Mont-Laurier. The new title is to undisambiguate and remove the province name per WP:CANSTYLE and to match the Canadian city related titles. For example Joliette, Lachute and Mascouche are all have titles without the province name. There are no other cities of Mont-Laurier around the world. And this is one of the largest towns in Laurentides and one of the largest towns in Quebec. Steam5 (talk) 01:45, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment "Mont Laurier" is also a mountain [1]. Though we don't seem to have an article on it. 70.24.248.211 (talk) 06:26, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- comment If you follow the rule in the Translation bureau, you don't have problem to traduce Mont Laurier to Mount Laurier. The hyphen also serve in French to make clear Mont-Laurier is a community, not a mountain. --Fralambert (talk) 15:21, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- comment With a hyphen, Mont-Laurier cannot be a mountain in French, only a place name. Same with place names derived from rivers and lakes: Rivière-Ouelle etc. And English would not insert a hyphen either for the mountain, the lake, or the river as opposed to the place. -- P.T. - Support - The move appears to meet the criteria at WP:CANSTYLE. The plain Mont-Laurier already redirects to this article. An article on the mountain, if ever created, would presumably be at Mount Laurier, and in any event a hatnote is sufficient to avoid any confusion between the two. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:51, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Support - There is no need to specify Québec on « Mont-Laurier » or « Mont Laurier », as the Québec government has done a great job dictating how things have to be named. One is a city, one is a mountain, there are no others elsewhere. --UnQuébécois (talk) 18:28, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
