There's a book about Mount Sicker, about The Town That Died of Jealousy (because if the Lenora and Tyee mines had cooperated they could have run much more efficiently and stayed profitable longer).

The Chemainus River is already a good sized river by the time it goes around Mount Sicker, so Sicker can't be the source.

About Granger Taylor, Google found me some UFO sites with info about his disappearance, but nothing about the crater on Mt Sicker. The archives of a Duncan newspaper (Cowichan News-Leader) should have that story, if someone is motivated to go in and search. Unless someone reading this has a clipping or a better idea of the date. The Duncan RCMP detachment would have investigated and may have some info available, and possibly searchable. And, uh, it may not have even happened on Mt Sicker, but Mt Brenton (other side of the river), but that can be corrected when better info turns up. By the way, the old steam locomotive in the reception building at the Duncan Forest Discovery Center has a plaque crediting Granger Taylor.
