I love the Samme Baugh quote. "Sure, it would've been 73-7" --Steve1299270.180.90.29 (talk) 21:29, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redskins threw the game?

[edit]

I've heard some speculation that the Redskins likely threw this game. Any info out there about this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.147.8.14 (talk) 15:37, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard this. I'm a Bears fan. Are you a Redskins fan? It is an interesting question, and one that would serve to add an amount of tarnish to this stat that Bears fans are proud of. --67.163.5.251 (talk) 00:49, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They shure did by drooping that tying TD Pass. Samme Baugh quote is correct. DoctorHver (talk) 00:27, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone trying to change it to read 75-0 instead

[edit]

I've never seen any actual source claiming the score was 75-0 instead of 73-0. If anyone can actually PROVE it with something other than "the refs were wrong" idiocy, then I for one am open for debate. --Chr.K. (talk) 16:08, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You'd think that 73 would be enough for anybody. I guess that it should have been 77-0, had the Bears been able to convert all of the extra points. Note how many different players handled this task: this was before free substitution, so they'd let someone who was already in the game kick rather than bringing in a specialist. And, of course, the officials made them pass for the last two PATs to avoid losing any more footballs. WHPratt (talk) 15:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if this guy isn't confusing this with the Championship Game in 1945 when the Redskins lost because Sammy Baugh hit his own goal post with a forward pass for a safety. The rule was changed after that to make such as this an incomplete pass. Maybe this guy figures that it happened here and gave the Bears two more points that were somehow taken away with the rule change. WHPratt (talk) 14:08, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
