Salmon section

[edit]

This article contains a long commentary on salmon population decline. There are no citations that apply directly to the Nashwaak River. It is probable that some of the mentioned factors apply but the connection is speculative and/or “original research”. Furthermore the timeline seems wrong for some factors, with the decline preceding the factors. This material needs to be more rigorously written and included in an article on Atlantic salmon decline.

This reviewer's family did commercial salmon fishing in the upper SJ basin and he is old enough to have seen salmon at Durham Bridge, so he understands the urge to write material in protest. This is not the place for it. YorkWheelRider (talk) 02:36, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The material I commented on has been improved and I have added an overview of the salmon decline with some specific references. I am not convinced that aquaculture is the source of the decline, but rather an issue related to lack of recovery from losses due to other issues. Its connection to the Nashwaak is still speculative/"original research". I reluctantly left it in. I really think that material needs to be more rigorously written and included in a general article on Atlantic salmon decline. YorkWheelRider (talk) 22:16, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
