Restoration of Clothing category
[edit]Hi, I restored the Clothing category for a few reasons, which I hope will seem sensible:
- I wanted the article to be found in the same category as its sister articles, such as Waistline (clothing) and Hemline, which are in the Clothing category.
- Strictly speaking, a neckline is not a top but rather its upper boundary. Moreover, necklines can be found on gowns, which are not really tops in the traditional sense.
An alternative and perhaps better solution would be to categorize the Necklines category directly under the Clothing category, rather than under the Tops category. I was reluctant to do that, however, without consulting its creator first -- hi, E! :D
Please let me know what you all think, WillowW 16:22, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Is halter really a neckline?
[edit]I'm not sure that "halter neckline" really belongs here. It's about how it goes round the back of the neck rather than any neckline in the usual sense. Besides, halterneck garments come in a variety of neck styles as the graphic in that article shows. -- Smjg 14:01, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Jewel neckline?
[edit]I've never heard this term used before; is this an American description or something? The style of plain round neckline on a regular T-shirt is generally known as a crew neck here in the UK. Cheers, DWaterson 14:07, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have never heard the term either, like you I know it crew neck.
- Perhaps some clarification of global differences might be needed. 31.185.156.158 (talk) 09:11, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
Choice of Neckline
[edit]I question the entire need for this section. It's entirely un-sourced and just seems to give fashion advice. If I come back to this article in a week or so and no one has objected I'm going to delete it, maybe put the deleted content on the talk page. HazelGHC (talk) 18:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Trends section
[edit]Unless this section gets updated more regularly (doesn't seem to have been touched since it was added in 2017), it should probably be removed, since otherwise it doesn't really describe trends-- just what was popular at a specific moment in time. Will come back in a couple weeks and delete, presuming no one objects. Alessandriana (talk) 04:07, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
