Etymology

[edit]

I removed the etymology 'naked man', which is pretty improbable, and left a recognition that other etymologies have been proposed. --Lavintzin 00:57, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have re-added it, because numerous independent sources in both English and Spanish give "naked man" as the meaning of Xinantécatl. --Seattle Skier (talk) 05:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Coords

[edit]

I corrected the coordinates per Google Earth. The Wikipedia Icon shown in Google Earth for this volcano is incorrectly placed at N19° 22" 30.51" W100°14" 12.54" (57.7 Kms NW of the correct location) Roberto.Ayon 22:31, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Height

[edit]

There is a dicrepancy of 10m between the height of 4680m given on this page (and elsewhere) and that given in the Table_of_the_highest_major_summits_of_North_America which is 10m higher. (Ranked 17th) Perhaps someone could try to resolve this?-— Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick Moyes (talkcontribs) 22:14, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

although by some measurements, Sierra Negra is slightly higher.

[edit]

Does not make any sense, because Sierra Negra at 4 580 metres < 4 645 metres... So it is not higher... --Wisdood (talk) 10:20, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
