Major rewrite

[edit]

I've attempted a major rewrite over the last couple days. Added many references, and reorganized and cleaned up the material. I removed two large tables that describe graduation requirements because 1) they were incomplete and inaccurate, 2) they aren't necessary for the topic (covered required courses which is off topic, etc., and 3) i didn't have the steam to fix them and add all the needed footnotes.

Areas that I see needing more work:

  • Many original sections require references
  • Many references are not formatted per WP:MOS
  • History section needs a lot of information for the period from 1987 to 2010. For example there isn't much discussion about the increasingly stringent standards and how that came about, or the controversy around requiring 'alternative schools' to use the Regents, and generally about the debate about standardized testing in NYS. The history section lists a lot of 'future changes' that have already happened.
  • The Format section wasn't reviewed by me, and I'm not sure if it is still accurate

Big Problem in first paragraph

[edit]

The second and third sentences of first paragraph contradict each other. One of them needs to be rewritten. 2nd: "Regents diplomas are optional"…. versus 3rd: "Most students … are required to take " Rdmoore6 (talk) 13:07, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

[edit]

Hey I am a father, you see my child is in special education, but if he's going to take the regents, will the passing score be lowered? I'm afraid he's going to fail it, because he has problems with focusing at school. If the score is still 65, can someone assist my son? Thanks. He's taking the Algebra 1a regents.

Cancelled for 2020

[edit]

This article should note that the June 2020 Regents exams were all cancelled due to the coronavirus, but I'm not sure where — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.174.61.139 (talk) 02:23, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect as an alternative to deletion WP:ATD. A number of articles about individual exams have been created. Most of the content of these articles is duplicate information. The information can be easily addressed in the main article and there is already a section ready for the content. Each exam dose not have individual notability for a stand-alone article and each should be redirected as stated here.   // Timothy :: talk  01:07, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree wholeheartedly, having just come across a couple of these articles in the page patrol list. The pages are: Algebra II Regents Exam, Living Environment Regents Exam and Chemistry Regents Exam. Hughesdarren (talk) 08:55, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is aLso a page for Algebra I and Global History/Geography. Today, I will add any specific content in these articles to the NY Regents Examination. Election Tron (talk) 12:26, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
