This part "Even though Motorcycle Speedway was started in the Hunter Region of NSW in Maitland in 1923" needs clarification and sources. It needs to reference "Johnny" Hoskins who started it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.184.102.121 (talk) 12:06, 9 August 2011 (UTC) This part: "and motorcycle racing was held at the still operating Newcastle Showground racing as early as 1919, it wasn't until 1973 with the opening of Jerilderee Park Speedway, to become the Newcastle Motordrome, that Newcastle had a dedicated speedway track that wasn't a showground." is factually incorrect. According to the reference at http://www.vintagespeedway.com/JimShepherdcollection.html , which includes a photo, there was a dedicated Speedway track at Hamilton in Newcastle for "a couple of seasons". Also, there is a reference at http://www.speedcarsaustralia.com.au/history/ is to "midget" cars making the trip to Newcastle to race at "Union Street" which would have been at what was/is called No 1 Sportsground. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.184.102.121 (talk) 12:17, 9 August 2011 (UTC) This "In a sport where death or severe injury was often an accepted risk, the Newcastle Motordrome never actually saw a fatal accident," is factually incorrect. A spectator was killed at Newcastle Motordrome / Jerilderee Park by a flying wheel but I am unable to source it at present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.184.102.121 (talk) 12:36, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
