Steve Woltanski

[edit]

I cannot find Steve Woltanski in the Squadron rooster as published in "No.501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron, 1939-1945" by Watkins and Listemann, 2007, pp. 78-136. I fear this might be a prank played upon Wikipedia by the makers of http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/501_Squadron_RAuxAF, the Army Rumour Service.Dirk P Broer (talk) 12:15, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Contacted Phil Listemann (co-author of the latet book about 501 sqn.) and asked about the statements about Dafforn and Woltanski

"Regarding Dafforn, I have no information about this. True or not I don't know, I did not investigated about this point. About Woltanski, I got the full list of Polish pilots posted in 501 from Poland. His name doesn't appear either in the ORB even if the ORB can't be seen as a full reliable source as the diarist may have forgotten some facts, and in any case, if he never has been forgotten (what I doubt), one thing is sure he never flew with 501 and his stay should have been very short. Regards,Phil"--Dirk P Broer (talk) 21:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
