Grott

I'm not sure about the Colonel-General Grott's (or Gott's) surname spelling. May be he is even mixed up with Hermann Hoth since I can't find his name. --Brand ^спойт 03:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

The article may be referring to a Major Groten, I. Battalion commander of Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 91, 4th Gebirgs-Division (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/Gebirgsdivisionen/4GebD.htm), which participated in Operation Edelweiss - though he did not start the offensive as the initial battalion commander. It is very possible that the article has given 'Grott' an incorrectly Anglicized name and an incorrect rank, as a Colonel-General (Generaloberst) would certainly not be personally leading a detachment of 150 men. It is very unlikely that he was referring to Hermann Hoth, commander of the 4th Panzer Army, which at this time was assisting in the attack on Stalingrad as part of Army Group B. It's suggested that if convincing enough evidence can be presented, Colonel-General Grott be renamed Major Groten to make the article factually sound. 4th Air Fleet

Who was the commander of the 4th Air Fleet? It said on the page that Manfred von Richthofen was commander. That does not work, as he had been dead for over 20 years. So I removed all mention of a commander for the 4th Air Fleet because I do not know who it was, and do not want it to link to a man who'd been dead for 20 years. Generalfeldmarschall Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen (a relative of Manfred von Richthofen) was the commander at this time. I have edited the text. Granskaren (talk) 17:05, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Battle of the Caucasus

There is no reason to keep two articles about two events happening at the same place at the same time. They are part of the same campaign/operation and Battle of the Caucasus is in a very bad shape as well. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 10:14, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

User:Fitzcarmalan Even if the other article is in better shape, I believe (however, I could be wrong) that this operation is a part of the Battle of the Caucasus, and, if merged, should be merged as such. Good point. The scope of the other article is bigger than this one's because it deals with both Axis and Allied operations, while this article only deals with the German operation. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 23:01, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
