Removal of claim about parent company

[edit]

I removed a claim introduced with wrong syntax by an anonymous user (see User talk:116.118.35.102) in the edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Paccar&diff=604255689&oldid=604197525 and later "corrected" (seemingly in good faith) by User:Seqqis, so that it became visible. While it is not financially impossible that the conglomerate Investor AB, with a market cap of more than USD 26 bn, would buy half of Paccar (with a total market cap less than USD 21 bn), there is no evidence at all that this might be the actual case, and obviously, both companies would be required to disclose such a transaction.

The same anonymous user made a corresponding edit to Investor AB—apparently so that the claim would seem correct to someone who does not bother checking sources outside of Wikipedia. Somewhat creepy and demonstrates the importance of not believing claims that lack references…--OttoG (talk) 15:44, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@OttoG
One could say that Paccar is the only US truck manufacturer which is not a subsidiary of some foreign (I mean: not USA) company. Others are subsidiaries either of Daimler Trucks or Traton, the truck division of the VW group. Is the a Wikipedia-article listing the various truck manufacturers: Daimler Trucks, Traton (VW Group), Iveco, Paccar, who else? L.Willms (talk) 21:10, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Paccar. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Suggestion for change

[edit]

Sorry, I don't know where else to present this query. I didn't want to edit the article unilaterally...

Is this an article on Wikipedia or is it the PACCAR company website? the whole thing sounds like an advertisement. Not objective in the least. Clearly written by someone from public relations. LookAtDisFUKnGuy (talk) 03:01, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article had to be reverted to an old version recently to remove copyright violations (ironically, partially from the PACCAR website). So there are likely some flaws in the article at present. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 13:56, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
