Another L.A. band I remember in this genre was the Plimsouls. They were a throwback to the Stones. Not very psychedelic in the acid sense, but they sounded a lot like the Stones and Jefferson Airplane and the Kinks. Surprised they don't get mentioned here... (by the by they also titled one of their albums "Children Of Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The Second Psychedelic Era 1976-1996")

Not R.E.M.
[edit]Paging @Koavf: @SteveStrummer: I don't want to get into an edit war with the recent IP editor who incorrectly adds R.E.M. as a significant influence in this article. I figured you two would take an interest in the R.E.M. related revisionist history here. His source barely mentions R.E.M. and the mention doesn't support his claim; definitely undue weight in the lede. Thanks. Lwarrenwiki (talk) 13:50, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- Never mind. Assuming a series of edits that I've made today remains in place, I think I've improved the article and its references in such a way that the mention of R.E.M. is OK now. Not really necessary, but acceptable in context. Lwarrenwiki (talk) 21:20, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- Nice job, and I'm glad you thought to include Dunedin! I think the new lead works well, although the parallel-genres info needs to be restated somewhere in the body, preferably with additional sources. Thanks for your work on this, SteveStrummer (talk) 23:32, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
