  2. Support. These articles about the same thing Beagel 17:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Oppose. The article about Palestinian state states the century-long history of the movement for a Palestinian state, while the article State of Palestine is about a much more technical issue : a more or less aborted diplomatic attempt launched in 1988 for a step towards this aim. Some information (notably the list of states which recognize the "State of Palestine") is relevant enough for a technical article, but would be much too minor for the broadly aiming article Palestinian state. French Tourist 18:06, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Oppose. For the reasons given by User:French Tourist. -- uriber 18:19, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Support. This article is frought with enough problems, and it covers most of the information in State of Palestine in any event. TewfikTalk 20:14, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Oppose merger. The article contents and information merits the name, since all the states that recognise the "State of Palestine" recognise it as “State of …” but not however as the Palestinian State. The naming relates directly to the article as well. Also, in the official language of the declaration it is known a "Dawlaat Falasteen" (state of Palestine) not "Dawlaat AL-Falastenyeen" (Palestinian State) the later suggests a Palestinian state that could be named anything and be anywhere. Let’s be accurate. ~ Palestine48 30 January 2007 (UTC) 11:12
  7. None. There should be a disambig named "Palestine" and then a few possibilities to choose for the user: Palestine as a historical region; Palestine as a state; Palestine as British mandate teritory; Palestine as Palestinian Authonomy; Palestine as a name of hotel in Bagdad and so on. Abd al-Mumit, 18:03, 2 February 2007
  8. Oppose as per User:French Tourist -- Petri Krohn 03:57, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  9. Oppose as per French Tourist and Palestine48--Lairor 06:31, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Oppose, yes it is confusing, but it is not the same thing! Bertilvidet 13:35, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  11. - Support. Having two articles is confusing, they cover substantially the same information and need to be merged. Lucid-dream 19:19, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  12. Oppose Palestine is an independent country.—Preceding unsigned comment added by AhmedToO (talkcontribs) 14:37, 24 March 2007AhmedToO (talkcontribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
  13. Comment There are several arguments for opposition, but that isn't really one of them. TewfikTalk 21:41, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  14. Comment. State of Palestine should be renamed something to the effect of "State of Palestine Plan." Otherwise, the reader can't tell the difference between these two articles without actually reading them. Without renaming, a merger would be the only way to solve that. Screen stalker 22:56, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  15. Comment: Why can't there be two article ... with a link to each clearly in the intro? Would merging make this article unwieldy? Would information be lost in a merge? .... I kinda like the State of Palestine declaration (a technical thing; the term declaration being heavily used in the article) or State of Palestine proclaimation rename idea though ... J. D. Redding 14:19, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  16. Responses: Item 7 : a disambig named "Palestine" is a good idea ... with the article there right now moved Palestine (Geogrpahical) (I don't know if that would fly though) ... : Item 3 : Please make the technical issue explicit in the title ... J. D. Redding (Additional note ... Palestine (disambiguation). J. D. Redding 09:59, 21 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I would like to propose that we merge these two articles:

The contents of these two articles appear to me to be so similar that it isn't worth trying to maintain them as separate articles. --AbnnTalk 06:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the same failed merge proposed above, as that one involved merging this article, Palestinian state, with the relatively distinct State of Palestine article. --AbnnTalk 06:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change of redirection to State of Palestine

[edit]

I will redirect to State of Palestine, as I doubt anyone searching for Palestinian state is after Proposals for a Palestinian state.93.96.148.42 (talk) 02:47, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
