I reached this article by submitting the search term "track rod". Having read the article I cannot locate any reference to "track rod". I have just amended the article Tie rod to show that "track rod" is a term used in the UK to refer to a tie rod in automobile steering. I put the proposed amendment up for discussion and there was no response after a week. Now I think we reach some problems. Is a Panhard rod what a UK motor engineer would refer to as a track rod? If so, why isn't the alternative term in the article and why does the search term lead to this article. Second, I don't know how to stop the search term "track rod" leading to this article. Much better for the search term to initiate a search in the index, surely? Agent0060 18:11, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Possibly useful image

[edit]

I just was reading about the Buick Roadmaster (on WP), and I noticed that the image at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_spring_and_shock_absorber_hook-up_on_the_rear_wheel_of_the_1938_Buick_chassis.jpg shows a panhard rod. The entire rod is not shown, but the anchor pivot point on the chassis is very visible. (The end connected to the live axle is not shown.) Perhaps this image should be used in this article. (I don't have time to do it myself now; I just thought I'd contribute the observation and suggestion for other editors.) 72.92.76.52 (talk) 21:49, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
