want to add this page to the category "Panorama photography" and add the footer with links to other photographic topics - yet not sure how.
Copy-edit
[edit]I've copy-edited this to remove peacock language al la "This artist extended the technique etc...". I'm also surprised that David Hockney's work hasn't been mentioned, he being one of the best-known users of this technique. He called his works 'joiners'; the artists named in the text certainly did not originate the technique. I'll add some text about Hockney when, or if, I get my copy of Langford's Basic back. weighting, giving a timeline and artist fischinger
[edit]thanks for clarification about sectioning, Baffle gab1978! but 3 other things i reverted:
(1) i think weighting of statements (like "an early and important contributor") enhances the content significantly.
(2) giving a timeline helps to put different contributors in relation to each other.
(3) fischinger is a noticable contributor to the field plus i really think it is usefull to mention the flickr group she had founded.

- Hi Halloleo, I agree that if a 'timeline' can be established it can be used. 'Weighting of statements' - David Hockney is well-known for his 'joiners' and is thus an important figure in that field. If Fischinger is an equally important figure in 'Panography', you'll be able to find references to show this. Founding a Flickr group doesn't make her important as anybody can found a Flickr group. In fact, I just searched for her on Google; the first page shows her blog, homepage, Flickr and Vimeo sites. Adding her first name brings up plsr.net, Getty Images and Facebook pages, then it's blogs and other social networke, English and German, but I still can't see *anything* suggesting notability. And if we allow one non-notable to remain, the article will attract link spam and wannabes like flies to dung, then someone has to clean it all up. It has happened on other articles I've edited. This is why we check links, check for notability and edit accordingly. We don't always get it right, but in this case I'm pretty certain there's no evidence of notability for Mareen Fischinger in connection with panography or joiners. So please prove she's important before re-adding her. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 13:12, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- thx Baffle gab1978 for your friendly and detailed reply. i had a look through the notability page and indeed if manly offline references count, than fischinger is not notable. (btw, i never claimed that she is equally important as Hockney.)
- still i got to know panography through her flickr group - i think it is a worthwhile link. how can we incorporate a link to her flickr group? furthermore, the article is still short: even if fischinger is not a very important contributor, she is a contributor and as long as we do not have other, better ones - why not mention her? Halloleo (talk) 12:39, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi again, Halloleo, please forgive my sarcastic tone above (flies etc.) - I didn't intend to bite too hard, just growl a little! :-) An 'External links' section would be the best place to add your links. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 19:59, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- added the flickr group under external links. after reading Links normally to be avoided i know that social networking sites are problematic, but i think the notability of the flickr group for the topic weights more. Halloleo (talk) 19:58, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, no problem, I think that's the best solution for now. Cheers and happy editing, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 23:30, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Moved content
[edit]I acknowledge the efforts of several to tidy up this article. However, the primary use of the term 'Panography' describes a dental x-Ray technique. In consultation with other editors but with respect to the creators of this page, I have shifted the 'joiner' content verbatim to Panoramic photography and am replacing it with an article on the dental imaging technique. 'Panograph' is used in some texts in relation to joiners which will be referenced in that article, but also in relation to stereopsis and vision testing. The move/merge will remove some confusion. - I reverted your changes. If you want to make an article on a new topic, that's not how it's done. And there's already an article on the dental xray technique. You can perhaps make a disambiguation page, if you propose it here and it's agreed to, but the normal result of a merge would be that this article would become a redirect to the merged article. - OK, I have made it a redirect. I have no objection to converting to a disambig page after any links to it are fixed. Dicklyon (talk) 18:08, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
