Work in progress

[edit]

Patricia Farr appeared in about two dozen movies. Rather than simply adding their names to her filmography from other sources such as Imdb, I'm trying to view each movie to confirm that she's actually listed in the credits. Certain details of her life such as her former job as usherette and husband's name are listed on other sites, but primary sources seem to be lacking so cannot be added to the page. Justification for deletion

[edit]

I cannot understand the rationale for deletion of the page. Other sites claim that Patricia Farr appeared in at least two dozen movies and one movie serial. Wikipedia has pages devoted to movies in which she appeared, sometimes as leading lady, and it seems absurd that it would have no page devoted to her. The presence of the page may encourage individuals who have personal information about PF's life to come forward and add to the page. Akld guy (talk) 22:56, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

pages can stay for years before someone comes forward. When that happens, the article can be resurrected. And if other sites have important information then tha informative n should be reflected here. We do not have ESP. If the article shows an actress of limited fame, then we have no choice but to assume nothing less. If she won an Academy Award or some such thing, someone would share that info wouldn't they? But when the article says "Despite being billed as leading lady in at least one[1] of the films in which she appeared, very few details of her life are available today." that contradicts what you say. Can it or can it not be verified? Postcard Cathy (talk)
The best secondary source that PF appeared as a leading lady is the credits in the movie Lady Luck itself. The movie is freely available for viewing on YouTube and at least one other site that I have listed on the page. I don't know what better source there can be for validating the claim. Are you seriously suggesting that both those movies are bogus versions with false credits? That is not the only movie that lists her as leading lady. The Lady in Scarlet is another. There may be more which are not available for viewing, so I have followed Wikipedia's rules and not listed them on the page. How is it possible to resurrect (your word) a page when someone with personal knowledge comes forward? Shouldn't the page first be present so that it can be added to? In the absence of any further response by Postcard Cathy, I would like to make the point that even the absence of information about the person or topic can be significant in itself. I would like to refer Postcard Cathy to the page Wikipedia:Credible_claim_of_significance, and in particular to points 4 and 6 on that page. Under the rule "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason." on the Deletion Notice itself, I believe that I may justifiably remove the said Deletion Notice, and have done so.
