Information Accuracy
[edit]Well, I have a concern on how this party & its people are appearing on Wikipedia. I am saying this because not all Wikipedia Pages on the same topic are spreading the same message.
The Given Lubinda article states that Edgar Lungu "retired" & that Given Lubinda himself is the "Acting President" of the Patriotic Front party. Then, the Miles Sampa article reads, in the introduction, that Miles Sampa himself is the "President" of the Patriotic Front party. And then, this "Patriotic Front" page does not indicate that Edgar Lungu handed over the party leadership to somebody else (portraying that he is still the leader), contrary to what the Given Lubinda article currently states.
We need to ensure that all pages show the same thing; we can't have one page saying Miles Sampa is the leader & another page saying Edgar Lungu is the leader. Let's see how we can balance the information.

- This link states that the newly-elected President of the Patriotic Front party is Miles Sampa & it is clear that the government of Zambia has not objected to what he did, meaning he is recognized as the President of the party (not Edgar Lungu or even Given Lubinda, who was supposedly the "Acting President" from the time Edgar Lungu announced his retirement until Miles Sampa was chosen).
- So, we now need to officially edit this very page to state this information. It is no-longer supposed to show in the Infobox that "Edgar Lungu" is the President. GeographicAccountant (talk) 16:02, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- I might have been mistaken with this reply. As a citizen of Zambia, I have noticed that there are in fact "2" PF Factions that both regard themselves as the legitimate Patriotic Front Party and news articles have been treating "any of them" as such. So, until the courts in Zambia declare one & denouce the other one as the actual PF leadership, we can't do anything; the page will just have to stay as it is.
- For the matter of Given Lubinda, I have made the relevant edits. He is no-longer the acting president & is now the vice-president of Edgar Lungu's faction.
- So, as it stands, this page portrays Edgar Lungu as the PF President while the Miles Sampa article's introduction says otherwise. We wait for more information from Zambia before we are able to edit anything. GeographicAccountant (talk) 21:27, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- I see this page has since been edited to show Miles Sampa as the current President and Morgan Ng'ona as the Secretary-General. I guess the information will stay like this.
- But we now need to find a way to write a paragraph about this under the "Formation and history" section. We should start by saying that Edgar Lungu lost the 2021 election to HH (came out second) and then we state next that Mr Lungu "retired" and left Given Lubinda as "Acting President". We then state that a controversial conference elected Miled Sampa as the Party President while also stating that Mr Lungu had come out of retirement and was given his title back by Given Lubinda, which has resulted in there being two factions of the PF. As we wait for the courts to make it clear who is the PF President between Miles Sampa and Edgar Lungu right now, we can add this information in advance.
