Royal Australian Army Corps is Australian Imperial Force[edit]

I intend to alter the term 'Royal Australian Army Corps', now used in the article, to 'Australian Imperial Force', of which Beech was a member. There has never been a formation known as the Royal Australian Army Corps. Hayaman (talk) 05:36, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GAN[edit]

I've failed the GAN on the basis of the points at Talk:Periscope rifle/GA1, but noticed that it had not been properly nominated. ie there is no GAN template at the top of the page. Built operation[edit]

So I guess the operator had to reach over his head and operate the bolt for each shot? That would be a bit tricky for a Mauser or Springfield; those "cock-on-opening" actions are pretty stiff to open, especially when initiating extraction of a spent round. It's not so bad when firing normally, but you have a lot less leverage working at arms length like that. Still beats a bullet in the head, even if your hand is still somewhat at risk. "British born Australian soldier"[edit]

Plenty of Australians at the time were born in Britain, plenty of Australians now and in the past were born overseas. What's the point of saying "British born Australian soldier" instead of just "Australian soldier"? His birth place is of no relevance whatsoever.
