Clarification sought
[edit]@Philafrenzy: I see that you have removed my {{clarify}} from the following
- In early 1941, the 2nd Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders and the 4th and 5th Indian Battalions
without actually clarifying so I am bringing it here. What were the "4th and 5th Indian Battalions"? Which ones? What regiments? There were upwards of 20 Indian 4th battalions and upwards of 20 Indian 5th battalions. So, do you mean 4th and / or 5th battalions of the 1st Punjab Regiment, 2nd Punjab Regiment, 3rd Madras Regiment, 4th Bombay Grenadiers, etc.? Hamish59 (talk) 14:36, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- That is the wording used by the source I think. I will check it and comment further later. Philafrenzy (talk) 15:01, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- Understood. I look forward to hearing back from you. Hamish59 (talk) 15:38, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- The Times say "The campaign required advances ... through ... Eritrea to the northwest, where the 4th and 5th Indian Divisions, including Cochrane's battalion, the 2nd Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, had been sent." Make of that what you will. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:10, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- I take it that you are not very familiar with military formations? A battalion in the British Indian Army at this time would have been about 800 strong, a Division (military) more like 14,000. Quite a difference; this section will need some work. For reference, here are the 4th Indian Infantry Division and 5th Indian Infantry Division articles. 2nd Battalion, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders was in 11th Indian Infantry Brigade, 4th Indian Infantry Division at this time. Hamish59 (talk) 09:22, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- I tweaked it slightly. Didn't need much as the article is about his personal actions, not the different formations involved. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:50, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- It is also about getting it right. I will fix it for you. Hamish59 (talk) 15:44, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
Why does the article name not match the name given
[edit]Why does the article name not match the name given? If Peter was his nickname, that when should add it in quotes after his given name. It is not a common or expected derivative, and so need to be included in quotes. Right now it looks like someone did not match the name to the subject at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:14, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
