Dear Wikipedia, My name is donna frydas and i am a direct descendant of your towns name sake Peter Lee. He is my great great grandfather; I am very interested in the history of your town, i found it interesting that the town was only built because the people wanted it after the 2nd war. i live in Australia and if any one would like to contact me they can at mightypies19@hotmail.com please write i would love to hear from you.

thanks Donna.

I lived in Peterlee and taught in Dene House comp in the early eighties; I remember a girl telling me that she was descended from Peter Lee on her mother's side. It was quite a big family, so there must be lots of descendents by now. Peterlee had more than its fair share of problems even then, but most of the people were decent and warmhearted. I was very happy there! Sasha 10:26, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has been wrecking this article by putting stupid things into it and changing it. Please leave this article alone as people have put a lot of work into compiling it. Domstu (talk) 01:13, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mackems?

[edit]

I know several people from Peterlee who refer to themselves as Mackems and so not support Sunderland, if someone can find some kind of cource for this? I know Peterlee has a SR postcode also. Gazh (talk) 10:14, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "Makems" is ment "slang for make them" and "takems" meant "takes them". so they made parts in sunderland n hartlepool took them. hense makams and takems. i thought it was a strange thing wen i 1st moved to peterlee until some one i worked with told me. so if I'm wrong its because i was told wrong but it seems plausible.

most not few placenames are named thereafter ‘individuals’…

[edit]

It reads… “ one of the few places in the British Isles to be directly named after an individual” The aforesaid is an uttergainsay of the truth, when in truth placenames being named after individuals is one (if the most) oftenways placenames are named after. Even British is fron the personification/individual, “Britannia”. There is no place for hatred against the individual in wiki leafs.

Dr Monica Felton

[edit]

Suggested link. The page mentions Dr Monica Felton and I'd like to insert a link to her Wikipedia page Monica Felton Jevarna (talk) 14:38, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not left poor, certainly?

[edit]
George Grenfell Baines' plan was accepted, and construction quickly began, but it was of poor quality.

Nothing more is said of this. Certainly the new town wasn't left in poor condition, was it? I'd visit myself and see—but is anyone from WP standing by with a complimentary air ticket and accommodations? I'd even forgo the usual requirement for a brass band at the terminal. But no. – AndyFielding (talk) 23:30, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
