Presence in US market

Anonymous editor 66.77.124.62 added the below paragraph with the comment "405 was last Peugeot in US - key fact to include"

I have added [citation needed] because otherwise the article does not conform to Wikipedia policies of Verifiability. I'd suggest the sales figures are plain wrong; the quality statement is subjective; and the suggestion that the 405 somehow led to Peugeot's withdrawal from the North American market is misleading and is an oversimplification.

In the interest of the quality of the article, and in accordinace with published policy on Verifiability, I ask 66.77.124.62 to back up these statements or remove them.

WTF is a Station Wagon?!

Since this is a European car should it not be called an Estate?

(Would it be OK for an article about an American car sold primarily into the US market to use BE terminology?)

I agree in the UK the correct term is "Estate" and would agree on this term being used in the article. However, in Europe the 405 Estate was primarily known as the "405 Break", and bear in mind that the "SW" in 207,306,307,406 and 407 variants actually stands for "Station Wagon". Cane ad timeline incorrect / 405 T16 GR info

The Sugar Cane ad with the Berlin song was not launched in October 1990; the ad was the launch ad for the car, and was first shown (in its entirity) semi-publicly at the NEC launch shows to dealers and employees of Peugeot Talbot Motor Company Ltd - I can't recall the precise timeframe, so I've not edited the article, but this was either December 1987 or January 1988.

As to the 405 T16 GR, this was effectively identical to the 205 version, but with a different external body shape. Even the floorpan was the same.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7g4F6FMJkiw pitches the ad at 1988, which would tie in what you have said. Also http://www.clubpeugeotuk.org/articles/a_brief_history_of_the_peugeot.html states the advert was banned (!) but also states the date at 1988. I have changed the date and added a source. Only two units of the 405 Turbo 16 ever built? Is that correct? Because a yellow one (Björn Waldegård's) was seen in the mid 1990s in Paraguay, displayed by the Pecci family, the local Peugeot representative. I've seen it three or four times in the span of a year or more. I thought that they have sent it temporarily from France only for auto shows and the like, but then when I saw it in the back parking lot of the dealer's offices I was surprised to find out that it was staying in Paraguay for so long. I asked and Juan Pecci personally told me that, in effect, it was there to stay. Aldo L (talk) 03:42, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photos on this site http://405t16.free.fr/rallye.htm show two non-Pikes Peak Turbo 16s side by side - the 1989 and 1990 Paris-Dakar winning cars. Given that recent photos of both these cars and the Pikes Peak car exist, would this not prove at least three examples were built? AdrianFRST (talk) 21:48, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me or doesn´t the last sentence of that section make any sense?

The manager of Iran Khodro in June 2009 said peugeot make until October 2009.
