Maybe they mean that Fen was approved but the combination was never approved... This article is full of contradictions.

The most recent study was in 1990 which combined phentermine with fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine and became known as Fen-Phen.

and in another place it talks about studies in 1992. I just checked out Academic Premier and I saw studies published this year. If it's ok with everyone, I think I'm going to revamp this article over the next couple of days and add references, etc.

Hi Jamie, I am aware that nofollow is used and that wiki links don't affect search engine rankings. I just thought that the pictures and forums on that PhenForum site would be useful and relevant. I was going to add more but didn't want to put too many links. I could write a LOT on phentermine abuse. Removed request for cite about FDA not asking for withdrawal of Phentermine

The fact that Phentermine is still on the market should make it self-evident that the FDA did not request withdrawal of it.Itsme2003 (talk) 21:04, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, that says NOTHING. For example, the FDA banned *all* opiod+APAP (tylenol) combos back in January 2011 (Vicodin, Tylenol w/ codeine, Percocet, etc. - e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!) - but effective Jan 2014 to give big pharma time to phase them out and switch all pain patients to stuff like Vicoprofen ("vicodin" + ibuprofen) and Percodan ("percocet" + aspirin). Off-label use

I do know that this medicine sometimes is used off-label to treat ADD/ADHD symptoms in place of amphetamines. I do not have documented evidence of this, however, so I am not sure if it should/should not be added to the main page. GrenciaNaga (talk) 11:06, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

That whole bit about the hypothalamus and the adrenal glands sounds like complete rubish to me. The citation given talks about the release of NE but that is from the reuptake sites on the presynaptic neurone and has nothing to do with the adrenal glands. This whole thing seems to be cut from whole cloth and bears no relation to any biological effects of phentermine. I will edit it in due course if no one else gets there before me. No Information on Phentermine Abuse?

Though I am certainly not the one to write it, there is painfully little information available concerning the unfortunate abuse of Phenterminie as a drug. Due to the fact that it is ultimately a form of amphetamine - and with its ready availability online - it would seem to me as though this drug is possibly abused in ways similar to Adderall or other amphetamine drugs. I think this important information to put out there to help prevent people from making poor decisions concerning their bodies and what they choose to put inside of them. 16:29, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
