Audley End
[edit]The article makes the, uncited, claim that in the late 1960s Jebb enlarged Audley End House to three times its former size. This sounds unlikely - it had come into public ownership by that date, and is famous for being much reduced in size, rather than enlarged. Does anyone have a source? - Pevsner (p.97) says no major alterations have been made to the house since Butterfield restored parts of the service wing after a fire in 1881. So I don’t think the statement can be right, even as a misreading of “reduced” as “enlarged”. KJP1 (talk) 12:16, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- It should be referring to Abbey House nearby which is separately listed.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C6:D0BD:2C01:415D:73CB:8EF2:C3CE (talk) 12:27, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Many thanks - are you the same, well-informed, ip who answered another of my queries today? KJP1 (talk) 12:50, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
