Identifying the ship
[edit]Would like confirmation from any John Palmer experts.Pustelnik 16:19, 3 May 2007 (UTC) I am not sure if this is the same ship or not: The English ship Phoenix, Captain Hugh Moore. It was active in the Pacific Northwest fur trade to China 1792-1794. It was described as a brig or a snow, and was also described as being from Bengal or Bengall.Pustelnik 15:20, 1 May 2007 (UTC) [1] [2] [3] [4]
It is not clear which Phoenix discovered the Phoenix islands, as different sources mention different ships. See EH Bryan's American Polynesia, as quoted by Jane Resture at http://www.janeresture.com/kiribati_phoenix_group/phoenix.htm Pustelnik 16:46, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

What is "of London" supposed to mean?
[edit]Perhaps the article should actually mention London, and this ship's relation to London, if "of London" is supposed to be the primary identifying characteristic of the ship. Propaniac (talk) 18:41, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
