Can someone post sources for the other locations in Greece that have this tree? They are mentioned, but I have no way to verify their existence anywhere except for Preveli and Vai. -User: Homerkp —Preceding unsigned comment added by Homerkp (talkcontribs) 16:54, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please, have a look here !

The valid denomination is Phoenix theophrastii !

I've seen both theophrasti and theophrastii used, in various reputable books and websites, so I still don't know which one is correct. My 2008 edition Timber Press Pocket Guide To Palms (Riffle; 237 pgs.) uses theophrasti.

My specimen of this palm, which I bought last month, did not come with a tag using Latin nomenclature. Chris77xyz (talk) 18:21, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the original description of the species (GREUTER W. 1967: Beiträge zur Flora der Südägäis 8-9. - Bauhinia 3(2): 243-254), theophrasti is used. "theophrasti" is the genitive of "theophrastus", "theophrastii" would be the genitive of "theophrastius". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.128.38.74 (talk) 21:03, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Vienna International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (2005) specifically states: "However, Phoenix theophrasti Greuter (1967) must not be changed to P. “theophrastii” since it commemorates Theophrastus, to whose name Rec. 60C.2 ["Personal names already in Greek or Latin, or possessing a well-established latinized form, should be given their appropriate Latin genitive to form new substantival epithets"] applies."86.190.1.84 (talk) 15:36, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
