Comment[edit]

Elia Kazan refers to it as "Pinebrook," - one word - in his bio. Margaret Brenman-Gibson, in her bio of Odetts also called it "Pinebrook club." Can someone confirm the proper spelling, and whether it was a "country club," or a "club," and add a redirect for options? --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 19:17, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From Images of America, Trumbull Historical Society, Trumbull, Connecticut, 1997, Arcadia Publishing, p. 122-123; "Pine Brook Country Club was incorporated in 1930. Built by Benjamin Plotkin, it was comprised of forty cabins and had an auditorium with a novel revolving stage. The grounds included areas for different sports as well as private places for contemplation in the country. Active members served and volleyed at the tennis courts. Some members found themselves resting by the lakeside at the sanitary crib. Pine Brook was the summer workplace of many New York actors and directors in the early 1930s. As many as twenty-six actors of the New York City-based Group Theatre lived, studied, and acted together here including Lee Strasberg, Cheryl Crawford, Harold Clurman, and others who became celebrated contributors to the American Theatre. In 1944, the Pine Book Country Club was sold, reorganized, and chartered as the Pinewood Lake Association." Tomticker5 (talk) 21:30, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stella Adler summer 1936[edit]

There's a picture of Stella Adler while she was at the lake in 1936. [1]Tomticker5 (talk) 19:02, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lenya[edit]

Did Lenya having an affair with Paul Green constitute much of a "scandal" in these circles? If so, it seems to me that one would have to view her life as a string of scandals. - Jmabel | Talk 22:34, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, read the article section "Scandals", and look at references #12 & #13.Tomticker5 (talk) 15:34, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
