devil's golf course

[edit]

The content in "Places of interest..." is stronger and more complete than the stub article. Either "Devil's Golf Course" should just redirect here (which is what I propose, but I'm not stuck on that solution), or the content here on "Places..." should be used to rewrite the DGC specific article. My sense is that by the time you did that you would still want 90%+ of the content of that article here in "Places...", which is why I suggest the merge. --Joe Decker 07:02, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The content on Devil's Golf Course in "Places of interest..." is almost entirely copied from the NPS web site. It's not a copyright violation, because US government publications are not copyrighted, but... In any case I've rewritten the Devil's Golf Course article to be a bit more encyclopedic, and to link to a better photo I found on the commons. It's still not much longer than what's here, though, so unless it can be expanded more the only argument I have to offer for not merging is that having a separate article makes it easier to find via Category:Salt pans. —David Eppstein 20:13, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How many charcoal kilns located above Wildrose?

[edit]

The article doesn't mention how many charcoal kilns there are. I visited the charcoal kilns many times in the mid-1960s, and as I recall there are ten of the remarkable structures, but the description and photos in the article don't reflect this. It would be nice if the information in the article included this to help impress the reader of the extraordinary nature of these rather large structures located in such a remote place. Thanks! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Places of interest in the Death Valley area's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "gnis":

  • From Black Mountains (California): "Black Mountains". Geographic Names Information System. United States Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior. Retrieved 2009-05-04.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:11, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No reason to duplicate info from main article in list when brief description and link are sufficient. Follows form of list. Djflem (talk) 19:11, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
