Comment taken from article[edit]

The link accompanying the comment that follows below doesn't reveal very much, but perhaps someone could to shape it into an NPOV, cited statement about current tribal affairs. -Uyvsdi (talk) 05:24, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Uyvsdi[reply]

"Louis Maynahonah is also the first Plains Apache Tribal Chairman to recognize a state court over Tribal Sovereignty." "On Demand Court Records." Added by 98.162.219.42 (Talk:98.162.219.42)

Photo of chief[edit]

On the photo is not Essa-queta, Plains Apache chief, but Pacer of Jicarilla Apaches. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:2C21:3060:8E6:805F:6A23:8862 (talk) 23:01, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Plains Apache Name[edit]

Article says variants of the "Na i sha" name originally meant "thieves" and cites the Barry Pritzker's encyclopedia, but the exact quote from Pritzker reads the Plains Apache "have also been known to non-natives as Kiowa Apaches, Prairie Apaches, Plains Lipans, and possibly Catakas, Palomas, Wetapahatos, and Paducas. Their self-designation is Na-i-shan Dime, 'Our People.'" Link to archived book

Does anyone know what the source is for the original entry? It is likely a case where the writer tried to recall something from distant memory and just tagged on a source that looked good. Erose9210 (talk) 14:01, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for calling attention to this. I'll wager someone wrote something based on the source and a later editor switched it. I found a few sources for names and requested citations for the other statements about names. Yuchitown (talk) 02:06, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Yuchitown[reply]
