Article would benefit from assistance from a botany/moss expert

Original article was very technical in places and somewhat hard to follow. I tried to clarify, but it would be helpful if someone who knows their botany/mosses could give this a thorough read and see if it can be simplified still further, as well as checking for factual accuracy.
