A map of East Falkland with the location of the town marked may be useful. Drutt 22:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So there it is, thanks for that. Drutt 20:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure so I'll go away and check my facts. But I think you'll find that Vernet's 1826 expedition was a failure, when they found that the Gaucho's couldn't use their horses in the peat bogs of the islands. The settlement did not become established till the next expedition in 1828. Justin A Kuntz 10:24, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reference http://www.falklands.info/history/history3.html indicates the problems that they found. Also indicates that Vernet's colony did not start until 1828. Justin A Kuntz 11:15, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Made a couple of edits to correct minor historical errors. Also included reference to Vernet's co-operation with the British Government.

Is partially correct. Guns and powder stores were destroyed according to Duncan's log, the Argentine Government claims that the whole settlement was destroyed. The people living there took the opportunity to leave because the place was pretty miserable and they claimed Vernet had lied about the conditions of the settlement. Never seen any source claiming malnutrition was a factor. Would someone review and edit accordingly please, seems whatever I do dormant accounts spring up to edit war. Justin talk 12:01, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Made an edit. It no longer mentions malnutrition, and also doesn't say "most" any more (since I assume that our readers are aware that 40 is more than 24). Pfainuk talk 20:19, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article has a merge tag, suggesting it be merged into Puerto Soledad. I presume this comment, found on the Puerto Soledad talk page, is the rationale.

"There is no inflated 20th century significant, both articles deals with the same settlement, so why don't fuse them? The Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, the United Provinces of the River Plate and Argentina is a bad analogy, because the are succesor states but nothing known as succesor settlements. Then we all have to see each articles lenght, they are not so long so they could properly fit together. Chiton magnificus (talk) 16:23, 31 May 2010 (UTC)"[reply]

For the record I would oppose such a merger.
The previous merge proposal, moving Puerto Soledad to here, failed for lack of consensus, but it was at least logical.
There is no reason at all to move an article about a current location to one about a settlement that no longer exists. Xyl 54 (talk) 15:37, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There has been no support fro this idea, so I've archived it. Xyl 54 (talk) 23:59, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
