Beef

[edit]

Does pot roast necessarily imply beef? There seem to be plenty of Google results for "pot roast -beef", but I'm not an expert.AlmostReadytoFly 18:46, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it doesn't; I'm just altering that. Njál 19:05, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Any reason you didn't just move the old article to Pot roast (beef)? You plowed the previous articles info! JoeSmack Talk 20:51, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm with Joe. This is now a "pot roasting" article, which I doubt was the original intention (or more to the point, what one would expect when looking up "pot roast" on Wikipedia). DagnyB 21:39, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've created pot roast (beef) with the old content, and have changed links from 'what links here' where appropriate. JoeSmack Talk 23:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Many thanks. DagnyB 23:56, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

combine with pot roast (beef)

[edit]

the method described in this article is typically called braising. "Pot roast" in north american usage typically refers to the dish, which is made with beef. So, I'd like to re-open the merge from Pot roast (beef). FiveRings (talk) 21:59, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Description

[edit]

The article never actually says what a pot roast IS. How is it cooked? What are the ingredients? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.74.193.1 (talk) 12:46, 28 July 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the above unsigned comment from the top of the page to this new section.

As that person stated, this article had lost the description of what a pot roast is. It's entirely possible that that's what a reader will look up the article to find out, and reference to a French dish may not be sufficient information. So I have reinstated the description from earlier versions of the page. People who know more about cooking than I do (not hard) may want to tweak it further; in any event, this article definitely needs more references, and some of them may include information for expansion.
