[edit]Surprised no one had a KJV reference. The KJV included the Prayer of Manasseh book since it's first publishing in 1611 AD.--Cheap-stock-photos (talk) 07:12, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

[edit]The following content was in the Manasses (given name) article and, since it's really outside the topic of that article, I thought I'd bring it here. It's mostly taken from the Catholic Encyclopedia.

The Prayer of Manasseh is an apocryphal writing which purports to give the prayer referred to in II Par., xxxiii, 13, 18-19. Its original is Greek. Nestle thinks that the prayer and other legends of Manasses in their present form are not earlier than the "Apostol. Const.", xi, 22; and that the prayer found its way into some Manuscripts of the Septuagint as part, not of the Sept., but of the "Apostol. Const." (see "Septuaginta Studien", III, 1889). The prayer is not in the canon of Trent, nor has there ever seemed to have been any serious claim to its canonicity. |

so what IS the prayer?
[edit]The article says, "It is used in the Roman Rite as part of the Responsory ...". But it also says, "The prayer is considered apocryphal by Jews, Catholics and Protestants. ", which I take to mean 'not known to be valid or correctly attributed', but what is the prayer? UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 03:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
