Who is this guy, and why is he being re-added to the cat list? Even IMDb doesn't list him. Removed for about the 4 or 5th time now.

@Salvio giuliano: Who may be interested re [1]. Where his redirect was changed back to an 'article'. It also seems it was re-re-directed three times more before the end of June! 220 of Borg 06:44, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. Since it's been a while since the redirect was turned into an article, I'd probably be more comfortable with sending it back to AfD... Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:41, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why do we care about trailer views?

[edit]

In this edit I removed fluff about the number of views the film trailer received because I see this crap across numerous Indian cinema articles and it just looks like enticing click-bait to me. What's the academic relevance of this? I know that people want to feel like they're part of the biggest craze or media interest, but it's not our job as Wikipedia editors to cater to this promotional nonsense. The plot of the movie is similar to the novel "The Prisoner of Zenda" by Anthony Hope which was made as a bengali film "Jhinder Bandi" by veteran director Tapan Sinha. Please mention the above references in the introduction part of the page. 103.21.126.76 (talk) 08:25, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Wikipedia is not the place for use to add our personal observations and interpretations. Any comparison would have to come from a reliable source and would have to be phrased neutrally. ~~

Box Office collections

Boxofficeindia is not based in India. It's based in UK. --The Avengers 06:40, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know that the location of boxofficeindia.com is a deal-breaker in determining reliability. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:46, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That may not be a strong argument, but perhaps due to its name India, Indian users assume it's Indian website which is more reliable than every other websites. I am not getting why this site is getting preference over others, and i am trying to think of possible reasons.--The Avengers 07:08, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ambeinghari:@Cyphoidbomb: The DNA source which says 432 crore cites thecourierdaily as its reference, which completely looks like a blog/UGC to me.- Managerarc talk 13:50, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've commented on this at Talk:List of highest-grossing Indian films as well. I think this is another example of a typically-reliable source posting unreliable information. We've seen the same issue with some sources posting data attributed to Anhdra Box Office, which I'd never use as a source for its bloggishness, or when our typically-reliable sources blindly publish the box office claims made by the producers (as in the case with Kabali). I think we should be circumspect about the 432 crore claim, although there are sources that seem to think it exceeded 400 crore. [2][3] Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:19, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Cyphoidbomb here. Some reliable sources did say it crossed 400 crore worldwide. 432 crore seems manipulated. I will revert my edits and make it to 400 crore. Thanks Ambeinghari (talk) 01:56, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of critical response and review table

[edit]

In this edit I removed the summary of the soundtrack's overall critical response as unsourced. We don't cherrypick reviews and then summarize/analyze those cherrypicked reviews. Secondly, I removed the table of album reviews. Something like that should be discussed at WT:ICTF to get consensus for which review outlets to use, lest we get inconsistencies from article to article. Why Bollybuzz? Why BizAsia? Should be discussed first and consensus should first be achieved and codified. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:38, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In these edits I made some changes to the gross. An inexperienced user, CuteSrkian, downgraded the gross for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Status quo value was 431c, although this was not consistent with the refs that were in the article at the time. I think it was based on this DNAIndia.com reference, which actually claims a 432c gross in a 26 December 2015 article.

The user downgraded the value to 362c based on this DNAIndia.com post from 23 January 2016. Clearly both DNAIndia.com values are in conflict and the more recent one, which claims 362, seems to be a mistake, as other sources like ZeeIndia indicated the film had crossed 400c on 3 December 2016, based on a tweet by Taran Adarsh. IBTimes also felt that Prem had crossed 400 crore by 3 December 2015. Some people commenting at this source have taken issue with the lowball. Since DNA is contradicting itself, and the other sources indicate at least a 400c threshold, I've presented the gross values as a range between 400c and 432c to better represent any questions about the values, all of which are pulled out of someone ass anyway. Orphaned references in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Bollywood Hungama":

  • From List of highest-grossing Indian films: "Dabangg 2". Bollywood Hungama.
  • From The Xposé: "The Xpose – Movie – Box Office India".

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 06:55, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
