Marvin Barnes
[edit]In the 1970s, Marvin "Bad News" Barnes played for Province. While in high school, he tried to rob a bank, but he was a star and so the college looked the other way. While playing center, he bashed another student-player with a tire iron. The school took no action against him. While we have a nice article on Marvin Barnes, certainly a discussion of the look the other way attitude of this era of Friars' basketball deserves a mention. Or not, let me know before I make an edit. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 06:15, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- It seems as though you have a very specific agenda here. Pats1 T/C 15:33, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the ad hominem. Assuming good faith was once a part of basic courtesy on Wikipedia. Ought we to get a third party involved? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 16:05, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- No, I'm simply saying, for an article that it's effectively 10 paragraphs long about 91 years of history for a basketball team, you think it's appropriate to add an 11th paragraph that includes excessive details about one player's off-the-court transgressions in one of those 91 years? That's giving undue weight to that incident, and considering you specifically included the line about the college taking no action, it seems as though there is an agenda that would violate WP:NPOV. - Well said. Could we find a few lines to talk about this (really shocking) incident? I am sure your right, a whole paragraph is too much. As for myself, I just came across mention of it in the New York Times the other day. I have no real interest in PC basketball. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 01:24, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps we could say "...mired by Barnes' arrest for ____" or something to that affect. Pats1 T/C 13:31, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

- Yes, just a word or two. Something like "the troubled star MB?" Want to take a stab at it, or would you like me to give it a shot. (By the way, are you familiar with that player's history? What a tragedy!) Paul, in Saudi (talk) 13:52, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- I think "troubled" may leave it too vague. Give it a shot and we'll tweak it later. Pats1 T/C 14:00, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

providence basketball
[edit]We want to play fast. we want to be the best that we can be at all times. there is nothing that cant stop us from doing this our selves. From what I just read this is person that knew their PCMBB very well. if i was apart of the team and knew the players who made all this happen. This writing would have been very helpful in informing me about the things that happened in friar town. we are a very young team but this young team is going to be doing a lot of big things this year just wait on it.
Thank you for writing this and explaining what went on in friar town Quadreesmith (talk) 21:50, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
