Under "toxicity" it talks about "Class C" and "Class A". What is this classification scheme? Can't find any information on this in wikipedia under "toxicity" nor anywhere else. In illegal drugs "Class A/B/C..." are used by the US penal code, but that's obviously something completely different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.172.75.1 (talk) 22:28, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dosage

[edit]

In the article, it says: "Dosage is 11 mg/kg not to exceed 1 g as a single dose."

Does this mean 11mg of pyrantel embonate or 11mg of pure pyrantel? In the package insert of a German pyrantel drug ("Helmex"), it says dosage is 10mg/kg, with one tablet containing 720mg of pyrantel embonate equivalent to 250mg of pure pyrantel.

I will mark the passage with citation needed. --Victor--H (talk) 09:28, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per Reese's insert, dosage is 11mg/ml for pyrantel base. Citation is their drug insert but I wasn't sure how to include the citation in the article. 71.46.80.57 (talk) 15:28, 4 July 2012 (UTC)EF[reply]

Per Columbia Laboratories product bottle (not the insert), the following table is given for HUMAN dosing (not sure what you guys are talking about with the "this need attention from a veterinarian" announcement on this page, but whatever)... after the first line, assume lbs for weight... move to the article if you feel it's useful. You can buy one of these on Amazon ATM.

25-37lbs 1/2 tsp 125mg
38-62..............1 tsp 250 mg
63-87..............1 1/2 tsp 375 mg
88-112.............2 tsp 500 mg
113-137............2 1/2 tsp 625 mg
138-162............3 tsp 750 mg
163-187............3 1/2 tsp 875 mg
188+ lbs............4 tsp 1g

drug facts 1 tsp = 250 mg pyrantel panoate
It says to use it only one dose, but if you pay attention to the life cycle of the pinworm, it makes more sense to use once a week for four weeks. That's just my opinion restricted to the talk page. There is nothing on the bottle about vet use. But using those numbers you could extrapolate pretty easily. 24.225.67.129 (talk) 02:03, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

pregnancy category

[edit]

Synchronize with pyrantel

[edit]

Looks like it's just a salt of pyrantel, so the article contents should be probably synchronized or even merged. --Djadjko (talk) 23:46, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
