As the question raised by Respect reviewer that, The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for academics. I would like to provide the details to respected reviewer for the same. Wikipedia:Notability (academics) criteria No. 5 says this point( 5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or "Distinguished Professor" appointment at a major institution of higher education and research). Dr. Nanda is first Indian origin Professor who have received and reached upto such a high level in the one of the largest and best universities in America (UCONN). So with due respect I think this page should be consider under the academics only. This page also motivates lots of indian student who consider Dr. Nanda as a Role model in their life as i am considering Him. I also want to say that I am in no way connected to Dr. Nanda except emails as reviewer had raised the point( A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject). I am modifying this page so that all indians should be feel proud and must know about Dr. Nanda and will inspired by him and his work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MathurAjay (talkcontribs) 02:13, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your answers. Please do NOT remove maintenance tags until other editors had a chance of expressing their views. Unsubstantiated removal of maintenance tags can constitute vandalism.
As to your objections:
  • Please note the difference between a chair and a named chair. Although Ravindra Nanda is a chair of a university department, there is nothing in the article that suggests that Ravindra Nanda is a named chair and the tag is fully justified in view of the information contained in the article.
  • You mentioned no sources of your information except for a LinkedIn profile page and a staff profile on the University of Connecticut website. All your other "references" are in fact links to the home pages of some institutions. They do not contain any information on Ravindra Nanda and all these links should normally be removed.
  • You seem to have a very close connection with the article's subject as you mentioned you receive email correspondence from the person. This may pose a risk of a conflict of interests and thus the respective tag has been put in place. Please do not remove it until a neutral editor carries out substantial copyedit or review.
  • Finally, the purpose of Wikipedia is not "publishing motivational pages for students". See WP:NOT.
Please do not remove these tags until the issues have been resolved by yourself or another editor. You have already removed tags twice - if you continue in this style I will have no choice but to take this up with Wikipedia administrators. kashmiri 18:34, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject.

I already clarified that i dont have a close connection with Dr. Nanda, I am a very small person in front of Him. I requested him some photographs of his for my department and he sent me 8-9 photographs of his. Then after attended his key note lecture at APOC at new delhi, i searched for his details on internet and found his wiki page. then i realized that it doesn't have complete information regarding Dr. Nanda. After that i have start editing it. I also want to tell you that i have done small changes but my name is appearing many times because I am new and have less knowledge of editing the page. Although AMIRD81 had contributed most to that page not me. I wish now I made my point and its your decision to accept it or not.

the purpose of Wikipedia is not "publishing motivational pages for students". I can understand that purpose of wiki is not to motivate students but at least we can provide some information regarding a great doctor who started from nothing and today who is a very renown person with great respect among more than 3 million doctors world wide.
