Untitled[edit]

Reis leming was known for his heroic act of saving 27 persons from a flood in England. He was the only one avalible to do it because he was the tallest and the water reached his chen. Although a thousand people died Reis was willing to save some. When he returned he was so tired he past out on the floor the doctors thought they would have to chop his legs because of the ice water, but he made it through and survived in one piece.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.218.47 (talkcontribs) 07:52, 5 August 2011

Award[edit]

The article stated that the medal was presented by Roger Makins, the British Ambassador to the United States. This is incorrect. The Times dated 18 February 1953 reports that on the previous day Leming, while home in the USA on leave, had met with Makins at the British Embassy in Washington and was thanked for his "outstanding work." The award of the medal by the Queen had been announced, but the presentation of the medal, reported again by The Times, took place in the Home Office, London, on 15 April 1953, and the medal was presented by the Home Secretary, Sir David Maxwell Fyfe. I have corrected the error. Blackberry Sorbet (talkcontribs) 14:15, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
